Hey everybody, welcome to Limerick City of Cultures Music Legacy Project entitled 'Sound Out &The Pigtown Fling'.
Just to give you all an overview on this project ‘Sound Out & The Pigtown Fling focuses on using indigenous sources, materials and partners to produce a legacy program project that enhances music production and development through real time collaborations and skill sharing.
This project envisages a collaboration system and infrastructure set up by Limerick City of Culture Legacy in partnership with University Limerick, Limerick Institute of Technology, Music Generation and the Learning Hub post City of Culture 2014. This infrastructure will peruse to ensure that upcoming artists in Limericks music sector will have access to professional advice, recording time and engineering support through our partner structures post 2014.
‘Sound Out’ is a body of work undertaken by Dr. John Greenwood (Creative Director) and Noel Hogan - The Cranberries (Producer), in collaboration with Music Generation. This ‘body of work’ will focus on an edginess that is championed in Limerick Arts and Culture and will be based on ‘Diversity and Fusion’. The project will recorded in CSIS University Limerick and Limerick Institute of Technologies Studios, will be mixed by Limerick man Eoin Lewis in Nashville and mastered by Richard at WAV Mastering Limerick.
The body of work will be documented by Limerick videographers Shane Serrano and Steve Hall and directed/produced by Limerick expat Brian Cross (b+) of Mochilla productions in LA, USA - to produce a ‘Made in Limerick’ documentary specifically on the making and delivery of this project.
Over the next three months – 'SoLimerick' our media partners will be drip feeding one-minute documentaries on all the Limerick artists and production people involved, just to give you all a taste of the personalaties behind the art. Dr. Eoin Devereaux will be doing the blogging and keeping you ticking throughout and photographer Darren Ryan will be capturing some moments in black and white.
The presentation of ‘Sound Out’ will be a City of Culture Special entitled ‘The PigTown Fling’ and will be presented by High Profile guest presenters and will showcase the ‘Sound Out’ body of work produced. The PigTown Fling will take place in Crescent Hall on the 20th of September 2014.
It is also envisaged that a CD of the production will be sold on the night, where the proceeds of which will be donated to Corbett Suicide Prevention Patrol.
